On November 2, 2022, Incisive Consultants visited Maydm Inc. at their headquarters in Madison, Wisconsin to teach girls and minority students about the opportunities and potential challenges in the field of healthcare IT. The students were given an overview of the healthcare industry, the role that STEM plays in it, and shown how much of an impact they can make in the world of healthcare IT.

Maydm Inc. Is a Wisconsin-based non-profit that provides girls and youth of color in grades 6-12 with the skills, experiences, and connections needed to pursue a career in STEM.

The Incisive team included Christopher Blackerby, CEO, Jessica Wu, Director of Operations, and Abbi Kershner, Business Operations Lead. The Incisive group shared their personal experiences, highlighting how they got into the field, challenges faced, and what motivates them to continue their work. The students were highly engaged and participated in interactive activities while Incisive discussed the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace, and how it can positively impact the culture and productivity of a company.

The students were introduced to technology like electronic health records (EHRs), telemedicine, and big data analytics. They were shown how these technologies are used to improve patient care, increase operational efficiency, and reduce costs.

The Incisive team felt a connection with the Maydm students of similar backgrounds, “At Incisive we value making people feel heard. Personally, I have never felt more heard than when I shared my own story with Maydm’s enthusiastic, and engaged students, said Kershner. “I hope the students were as inspired by us as we were by them. They give me hope for a brilliant and diverse population of professionals in the growing technology sector.
